Learn To Play (LTP) Program

Let's Play Ball!

Learn to Play (LTP) is designed for children born in 2013, 2014, 2015 & 2016 and is a great way to start your son or daughter off on learning the basics of Softball, develop skills and get out playing in a team environment.

The program is lead by the Learn to Play Coordinator Brenden Still, who is experienced and knowledgeable within softball and baseball; with over 15 years of experience playing baseball and umpiring softball and baseball he is a wealth of knowledge.

For the 2021 season the program will commence Monday April 26, 2021 and will run until June 9, 2021. Players will meet Monday and Wednesday’s from 6:00 – 7:00 pm.

Parents are required to stay and are encouraged to participate as assistants to the LTP Coordinator within their child’s group.

We want to be sure that our LTP players are learning valuable skills as well as having fun, to accommodate this, players will be in placed in teams of 5 (we do not need outfielders at this age) and they will learn fundamentals such as:

  • Proper form for hitting, catching, throwing, etc…
  • Where each base is, and how to run them
  • Positions & what they do there (basics)
  • Throwing
  • Catching
  • Hitting
  • And Much more!!

The program is designed using the Tim Horton’s Timbits Learn to Play Program, along with input from the LTP coordinator and executive.

When the season is over Mission Minor Softball hosts a wrap up party for the players and their family, traditionally we have a bouncy castle, face painting, carnival games and pizza. Due to COVID this year we may not be able to do the bouncy castle- but we will schedule lots of fun!
